This project is an attempt to document the landscape of Prague through the tram network. Through an open window of the tram, a photograph is taken between each station with a vertical framing and representing the landscape of Prague while slightly letting the edge of the window appear. The objective of this project is to discover or rediscover the morphological diversity of the city through a universal means of transport by highlighting the particular urban contrast of Prague.

Indeed, in addition to having a great diversity within its buildings, mixing different architectural types, the city of Prague has the particularity of being composed of half wild spaces and half urban spaces, which makes it one of the greenest European cities. However, here, it is not a question of categorizing and hierarchizing the level of density between buildings and nature but rather of providing a global vision of the morphology and thus questioning our relationship to the urban in the specific context of the city. In addition to this, this project also questions the way of representing the city, while often only specific parts of the city are highlighted, the aim here is to show a global representation, made possible by the fact of passing between each station and thus giving a general overview of the city without hierarchy.

The choice to leave the edge of the window slightly visible, and to take the photographs between stations rather than at a standstill, makes the shooting conditions visible and suggests the notion of movement present during the shooting. The project is distinguished because it is produced from a moving vehicle, the subject moving in place of the photographer, bringing a part of randomness to the photographic process subject to the hazards of the journey (lack of stability, acceleration and slowing down of the tram, impossibility of changing point of view).

This photographic work was part of the group exhibition Fotofutures which took place from June 7 to June 28, 2024 at the Hybernská gallery in Prague. For this exhibition the order of the photographs as well as their exact position were determined randomly to create an extension of the photographic process, only a general frame was provided in order to visualize the rendering of the installation. In addition to the 300 photographs that make up the installation, a recording made in a tram is played in the background. The purpose of the recording is to make the installation more immersive with conversations of people and tram noises. The bench located in the middle of the room, allowing viewers to sit and look at the photographs from there, recalls the position from which users can admire the landscape of Prague.
